The funicular system in Istanbul plays a significant role in navigating the city’s challenging terrain. Comprising the F1, F2, F3, and F4 lines, these routes ensure convenient travel for residents and visitors alike.

Among these lines, the F2 Karaköy-Beyoglu line holds a notable distinction as the world’s second-oldest underground railway. Its purpose was to connect two prominent districts of Istanbul seamlessly.

To embark on a journey using any of these funicular lines, passengers must have an Istanbulkart. The fare for a one-way trip is ₺15, allowing travelers to make up to five discounted transfers within a two-hour timeframe. Alternatively, individuals can choose a limited-use card that permits access for a specific number of trips. These cards are available at Ticketmatics or Istanbulkart representative offices spread across the city.

Foreigners residing in Istanbul enjoy the privilege of personalizing their standard transit cards. This allows them to purchase monthly passes. By creating a digital card on the Istanbulkart app and utilizing QR codes at turnstiles like locals do, they can effortlessly navigate through the transportation system.

In case you leave any belongings at any of the stations within Metro Istanbul’s network, there is an effective lost-and-found process in place. Items left behind or handed over by fellow passengers are stored securely at authorized locations.

Lost and Found

For lost items on the F1 line specifically, you can visit the Gayrettepe Station Lost Property Office for assistance.

Metro Istanbul carefully records each item recovered in their computer database. To claim your lost item personally from one of their lost property offices, you must provide identification as proof of ownership. Any unclaimed items are then transferred to the IETT General Directorate Lost Property Office every two weeks. If you have any inquiries regarding your missing belongings during this process, feel free to contact them through the Alo 153 Beyaz Masa Line.
